Organized around development of transfusion and transplantation medicine such as HEA BeadChip kits for multiplex human erythrocyte antigen DNA analysis, HLA-A BeadChip kits for single-locus human leukocyte antigen DNA analysis, and other products that are in the development stage such as HPA, array imaging systems and BASIS in March 2008, Bioarray Solutions was acquired by Immucor, Inc (NASDAQ: BLUD). Bioarray Solutions, develops flexible and versatile optically programmable array technology as a platform hosting thousands of simultaneous biochemical tests ("assays") on the surface of a semiconductor chip. Applications include chip-based DNA and protein analysis as well as array cytometry, a novel format of quantitative, multi-parameter cellular analysis. BioArray Solutions had been developing a novel BeadChip format for complex nucleic acid and protein analysis. The firm's BeadChip products for transfusion and transplantation medicine, delivered on a proprietary platform. The Company had also developed products for genetic diagnostics and infectious disease agent profiling, and, in 2005, obtained FDA clearance for an autoantibody profiling ("ENA") BeadChip assay on its Array Imaging System.
