A former spinoff of General Electric, Power Corporation is responsible for the design, fabrication, development and commercialization of a wide range of power semiconductor devices for pulse power and power applications. The company is the oldest continuously operating semiconductor engineering and manufacturing facility in the world, dating back to the late 1920s. The firms newest Power Semiconductor Components designed for use in a variety of pulse or discharge applications that require high reliability such as weapon fuze systems, motor ignitions, crowbar systems, flash lamps, medical diagnostics and industrial welding. The component, SolidTRON, is a line of miniature three junction solid-state switches based on the MOS controlled thyristor and Super GTO technology for low duty high voltage pulse discharge applications. The 77mm and 100mm devices are used by rail transportation companies such as GE Transportation and MARTA for use in traction applications. The new Solidtron products are used by the biggest fuze manufactures in military weapon systems like the Patriot PAC-3 missile and GMLRS missiles.
