Made in Space Inc is using the rapid advancements in 3D printing and additive manufacturing to offer a unique solution for the aerospace industry. Additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, will radically enable the space industry. Building parts, structures and tools in space will not only reduce launch mass and size constraints but will also enable the capability for parts to be built when needed, on-demand. Made in Space's Zero-G Printer was developed jointly with NASA and was launched into space in September 2014. Launched March 2016, AMF is a permanent manufacturing facility on the International Space Station. R3DO is the a zero-gravity material recycler designed such that material from waste products or previous prints can be melted down and turned back into 3D printing feedstock.
