In March 2019, Lumir Research Institute Inc was acquired by fellow SBIR-involved company Aptima. Quite active in the SBIR space for the Air Force and OSD, Lumir solved problems for their clients in the military, educational, and corporate domain, developed tools, and answers questions. The firm offered training effectiveness, evaluations, performance measurement, and standards definition solutions. The company also had expertise in evaluation of simulator fidelity and training system capabilities; developed distributed mission operations and live virtual constructive training technology that include performance evaluation and tracking system; and offered tools to support identification of performance measures, implementation of systems, and interfaces to capture performance data. Specialities for military training and high school science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education were game-based technologies; modeling and simulation solutions for STEM education; usability assessment solutions for training content generation and delivery interfaces; and empirical research services.
