More recently, VISM ventured into HgCdTe infrared photodiode fabrication business with a new invention - in-vacuo Cd-rich anneal process for annihilating metal-vacancies and neutralizing dislocations in HgCdTe, which is a variable, narrow bandgap material commonly used for making cooled infrared focal plane arrays (FPA). With several inherent and distinct advantages over conventional metal-rich anneals in improving HgCdTe quality, Cd-rich anneal can prove to be a disruptive innovation for HgCdTe FPA.technology. "Widespread adoption of relatively simple sensors has resulted in increased value adding functionality across a wide range of products. As demand increases for more functions and more "awareness", companies are moving to build ecosystems that will make it easier for systems makers to add ever more intelligent sensor functions to their products. The result will be a changing value chain and an explosion of more accurate, more integrated, context-aware smart sensing providing innovative functionality across a much wider range of applications." as said by Yole Development's Mr. Laurent Robin in a keynote speech for 2112 MEMS in Motion Collaboration Summit, VISM's SuMBS technology has potential to take a leadership role in this on-going (r)evolution.
