Square One Systems Design Inc is a multi-disciplinary engineering company specializing in the design and development of innovative automated work cells, robotics, and precision positioning devices for the purpose of harnessing kinematics, a branch of classical mechanics pertaining to the movement of objects in space. The firm has been working in the field of six degrees-of-freedom (6DoF) and has designed a system where objects can be manipulated with a high degree of supervised autonomy to move in virtually an unlimited manner within three-dimensional space forward/backward, up/down, left/right, combined with rotation of three perpendicular axes, the pitch, yaw and roll. Square One developed a tri-sphere positioning system to maneuver bulky electromagnets and mirrors into exact alignment. The technology was eventually sold to Samsung to guide lasers while building semiconductors at their new manufacturing plant.
