Real Prevention LLC develops and implements prevention-based communication services relating to public health issues, especially drug abuse. Founded by Dr. Michael Hecht and Dr. Michelle Miller-Day, both professors at Penn State University and recognized authorities on drug prevention, the company aims to provide cost-effective, evidence-based preventive intervention solutions through intensive coaching/training and ongoing technical assistance. Real Prevention has developed the keepin' it Real (kiR) rural and urban drug prevention curricula, and is also pursuing preventive communication solutions involving issues such as diabetes management, teenage pregnancy, obesity, domestic violence, and HPV immunization. The company has offices in California and Pennsylvania but is affiliated with expert trainers across the U.S.
