Anchored at some level in technology licensed from CalTech with a number of their own patents, Orbits Lightwave offers ultra-stable, low noise fiber lasers in the 1060 nm and 1550 nm wavelength range for Sensing, LIDAR, Microwave Photonics and Coherent Communication applications. This novel packaging technology greatly reduces susceptibility to shock and vibration enabling the firm's laser unprecedented levels of stability and reliability under demanding industrial or military environments. Housed in an athermal packaging - minimizing the frequency drift with respect to temperature, without the need for energy consuming temperature control - enables unprecedented frequency stability. Laser package is hermetically sealed to remove any humidity effects. Long term frequency data logged from the firm's standard fiber laser design has shown <100MHz drift over an extended period. The firn's flagship product line operates in the eye-safe telecommunications C-band wavelength range (1530-1565nm) - soon to be available between 1030-1060nm. Based on a novel and patented “virtual ring” laser architecture, the firm's Ethernal fiber lasers offer state of the art S/N and side-mode suppression, shot-noise limited RIN, narrow (<200Hz) line-width, with excellent frequency stability.
