New Span is developing and marketing advanced technologies and sensors to support various defense, homeland security, and commercial applications. The company has the following laboratories, each covering a certain spectrum of technological areas: Non-Linear Optics Lab (developing laser eye/sensor protection technologies, ceramic fiber coating evaluation technologies, carbon nanotubes and applications, surface plasma optics and applications, all-optical switching technologies). Optics and Imaging Lab (developing foveated vision technologies, hyperspectral imaging technologies, thin film coating evaluation technologies, diffractive optical elements and beam shaping technologies, micro-holographic data storage, target sensors, and laser warning sensors). Photonics Lab (developing all-optical fiber communication switches, silicon-on-insulator micro-ring filter and switches, and high speed polymer optical interconnection ribbon technologies). Maskless Lithography Lab (developing maskless lithography technologies, micro transfer molding technologies, and micro fluidic patterning technologies). Being a capable small system integrator, New Span has developed a number of products, including a laser beam profiler, a thin film non-contact optical evaluation instrument, a maskless laser writing lithography system, aflat-top laser beam shaper, optical coherence tomography, spectral imaging, surface topography evaluation systems, optics education kits and light sources.
