SBIR-involved from soon after the firm was founded in 2000, Neurobehavioral Systems - now dba NSB - was structured to provide researchers with precise, powerful software tools to create innovative behavioral and physiological experiments, Their primary tool - Presentation® - was developed with SBIR NIH awards and was subsequently distributed for free becoming an in-use platform at research institutions around the world, with c. 100,000 registrations and some 225,000 downloads. Consistent with Neurobehavioral Systems (NBS) original focus of providing precise and powerful software tools for use in innovative behavioral and physiological experiments NBS has come back to SBIR some 15 years later to support the next generation of their work. The scientific study of brain function requires precise tools. NBS is providing innovative software to permit scientiific study of a complete range of perceptual and cognitive processes by creating, distributing, and commercializing innovative experiments in cognitive neuroscience -- continually adding new capabilities to its software products. NBS does not sell hardware but provides high-precision interfaces to a complete selection of research hardware and software giving users maximal flexibility to choose the right tools to optimize their brain imaging and behavioral experiments. NBS continues to provide low-cost access to Presentation® software for students and teachers and has developed Web licensing, activation controls, FTP and encryption utilities and other software features to facilitate the development and distribution of commercial products using the Presentation® platform.
