Public Profile

Blue Heron Biotechnology, Inc. (fdba Finch Technologies) provided gene synthesis services and, to accelerate discovery research, was structured to industrialize the manufacture of custom reagents. Custom reagents are a natural extension of the multi billion dollar life science reagent market, saving the typical research organization a significant amount of time and resources. Blue Heron's proprietary GeneMakerTM could synthesize any gene, regardless of sequence or size with 100% sequence fidelity guaranteed. At one point, over 40% of the top pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies worldwide buy synthetic genes, gene fragments and gene variants from Blue Heron. In August 2010, Blue Heron was acquired by OriGene Technologies - itself an an SBIR now outgrown the program (by size - being a research tool company, providing a commercial collection of full-length human cDNAs.
