Biting Insect Technology: American Biophysics Corporation has its focus on the electrical signals generated by nerves in the insect's maxillary palp (the mouth part of the insect) and test for attractants that stimulate the insect's sensory system. The sensory system alerts the insect to the presence of a potential host. Using the information from basic entomological and sensory physiology research, our entomologists determined the optimum concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2), temperature, and humidity to attract biting insects. Then our engineers invented a safe, quiet, non-toxic and environmentally friendly method to capture only biting insects by recreating this attractive signal.
