COVID 19 reporting and communication identified a significant security vulnerability for the United States Air Force and DoD. In an effort to get timely information out to our airmen commanders were forced to use public social media platforms such as Facebook for daily updates on base status, infection rates, next steps, etc. This information was readily available to anyone in the world following a Bases Public Social Media Presence. Publically presenting readiness challenges or impacts that must be addressed. Commanders require a secure and private platform that is easily accessible for all of their airmen. This platform must allow only verified users to access the application and must be hosted in the United States on a secure government server. Only then, should time-critical updates and sensitive information be allowed to disseminated during a national emergency, pandemic, or large scale contingency operation. BaseConnect will develop a base admin secure newsfeed feature to ensure the appropriate level of security for each base is addressed. Our next step in development will be to develop private organizational pages for units to upload information and receive feedback from their team. We will also include connection and feedback features allowing commanders to get timely feedback from their airmen. Finally, we will add specific polling features as desired by the end-user to assist with real-time analytics.
