Public Profile
Originally known as Nano Systems, Inc., NanoSciences Corporation specializes in micromachining of silicon and other materials. Also has a location in Lancaster, PA. The firm's founders engaged in research using micromachining technology to produce a very dense nanoscale non-volatile memory. In the process, they made an important discovery early in 1997 that lead to the development of a novel process for very high rate deep anisotropic silicon etching. NanoSciences Corporation (Oxford, CT) has developed an electrochemical process for fabrication of silicon microchannel plates (MCPs) on silicon wafers for detection of ultraviolet (UV) emissions for missile defense. A NASA researcher is also using the silicon MCPs in photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) for space applications. The process may be used to develop fuel cell separators as well.
