Public Profile
GMA Industries Inc initial work was in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics. Now GMA has major research and development efforts that span from cancer research to data compression and the test technologies. the firm performs basic research and development related to data and medical imaging, data visualization, data compression, and equipment test. Other areas of specialization exist in nanotechnology and data acquisition. Examples of the firm's success include using key elements of lossless compression technology as a basis for detecting tumors within digital mammograms, extracting and recognizing chart contents to create full vector charts from existing NOAA raster charts used for marine navigation, and developing replacement scents for canine explosives training. Progress in our research is published at numerous industry forums and conferences throughout the year. The firm's research and development have begun yielding several commercial products. For example, early technology for optical character recognition, when applied to capturing chemical carcinogenesis data, has resulted in the development of medical databases that are available on CD-ROM and by subscription through the website. Future releases include commercial products for enhanced communications protocols combined with lossless compression to enhance data throughput in low-bandwidth communications channels, software to improve electronic equipment testing, groupware for sharing and discussing high-definition tumor images between medical researchers and practitioners over the Internet, and nautical chart navigation software. In addition, product development and licensing is anticipated of many of discoveries and inventions in the field of nanotechnology and chemical/material science.
