Capable of measuring on the order of a femtogram, this innovative technology can be applied across a range of opportunities in nanotechnology. The active component of the TFM is a tiny platform that vibrates when powered. When mass is deposited on the platform, the vibrations of the platform slow - analogous to how heavier guitar strings produce lower notes. By constantly monitoring the frequency of the platform, the deposited mass can be measured.
