Public Profile
Organized around creating, intelligent chemistry systems, Pendar Technologies was formed in 2015 by a merger of Pendar Medical and Eos Photonics which firm had earlier spun off from research done at Harvard University. Fusing innovative hardware with machine learning algorithms guided by expert knowledge of molecular spectroscopy, the firm is located in the original Eos location,. Eos had been responsible for designing and building unique infrared lasers called Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCL). QCL lasers are useful in chemical detection, since most molecules absorb infrared light very strongly in the infrared. In addition to its laser design and manufacturing capabilities, Pendar (Eos Photonics) has expertise in QCL integration and applications including: customized QCL drivers for both high power QCLs and QCL arrays; thermal management and packaging of QCLs for use in the most demanding field applications; collimation of QCLs using custom-fabricated infrared microoptics; and QCL based instrumentation for in situ and standoff sensing of gases and condensed phase materials. Microvascular oximeters are currently being developed to improve understanding of hemodynamics.
