Previously dba Secure Command LLC, Invincea is a venture-backed security software company developing new approaches to combat advanced cyber attacks through its Invincea breach prevention platform. In February 2017, firm was acquired by Sophos in a very large, all cash transaction that did not include the firm's R&D unit. The company currently protects nearly 10,000 companies around the globe, with many more coming online in the near future through its OEM relationship with Dell. Invincea was originally funded by DARPA to build a prototype virtualized web browsing solution. Since then, the patent-pending technologies developed have been commercialized and are now available to companies and governments, enabling them the strongest protection against cyber breaches. The firm develops desktop security solutions, with products including: Invincea Browser Protection, which shields PC users against various types of Web-borne threats by moving desktop Web browsers into a controlled virtual environment; Invincea Document Protection, which protects users and their network against threats embedded within PDF documents by moving the PDF viewer into a controlled virtual environment. The firm also offers products for malware threat protection via virtualization to protect enterprise networks from cyber threats, including spear phishing.
