With the focus on antimicrobial probiotics with which to fight bacterial infections and to secure food production, General Probiotics, Inc. is developing novel probiotic strains capable of producing antimicrobial peptides aimed at livestock pathogens. The firm is set up to harvest the natural potential of probiotic organisms to produce antimicrobial peptides. The primary focus is on designing probiotics to produce high titers of antimicrobials, in order to eliminate Salmonella enterica, Clostridia perfringens and Campylobacter jejuni.
