Dr. Arlan Fuhr, chairman and founder of Activator Methods International Ltc., has promoted Judith Hamilton Fuhr to CEO of his Phoenix chiropractic company — and not just because she's his wife.
"She is the only woman CEO in the chiropractic world," Fuhr said.
Hamilton Fuhr has served as the company's president for 15 years, which is the same number of years they've been married.
"She came into the operation when we got married," Fuhr said.
Taking her place as president is Dr. Mark Zeigler, while Fuhr is moving out of the CEO role to serve as chairman.

"She's involved in more than just the day-by-day business," Fuhr says of his wife. "She's our strategist and lobbyist."
Zeigler is a former mayor of Sturgis, South Dakota, home of the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. He graduated from Northwestern College of Chiropractic in 1980 and served six years as president of Northwestern Health Sciences University.
"Mark brings another dimension to our operation," Fuhr said.
As chairman, Fuhr will move more into research and development of the company. He already has more than a dozen patents related to his Activator adjustment tool, and most recently came out with a new electronic Activator, retailing for $1,500.
"Patients love it," Fuhr said. "It doesn't hurt."
He is working with a handful of universities around the world, on research projects ranging from osteoporisis at the University of Madrid to inflammation at Parker University in Dallas.
The company has 175 doctors teaching the Activator method internationally, and sells equipment in 55 countries, with 50 employees at its two manufacturing plants in Taiwan.
