Lenzner Research LLC expertise are in various types of lasers. IR laser with olivines active medium is one of the promising candidate for the generation of ultrashort laser pulses in the for optical telecommunications important near-infrared wavelength range. Solid-state lasers are another promising canditate that might supersede excimer lasers in a majority of material processing applications in the near future due to significant improvements in laser technology. Several of these laser systems, operating in the deep-UV range are available in optical laboratories, a massive commercialization of these laser is still impaired by numerous technical obstacles. The firm is working on laser sources that delivers pulses at a wavelength above 200 nm, a duration of few nanoseconds, and with a repetition rate of up to 5 kHz. This system is supposed to be used to simulate ablation processes in different materials, as they will occur in future solid-state laser systems.
