In June 2007, Biosite Inc was acquired by Inverness - subsquently renamed Alere Inc.. Biosite Diagnositcs, Inc. develops, manufactures and markets rapid, accurate and cost-effective diagnostic products that improve the quality of patient care and simplify the practice of laboratory medicine. The company's diagnostic products include Triage Panel for Drugs of Abuse (Triage DOA), a single-sample urine test that identifies commonly abused drugs. Biosite also made a Triage Cardiac Panel and Triage Meter Panel for diagnosing heart disease, as well as Triage C. Difficile for detecting an intestinal bug. It was developing diagnostic products for congestive heart failure and sepsis, for detecting certain bacterial and parasitic infections, and for determining the drug dosages.
