April 15, 2014 -- Voxiva, Inc. and Amerigroup, a wholly owned subsidiary of WellPoint, Inc., are experiencing early success with enrollment in Txt4health, a mobile health and wellness program for adults age 18 and over. Through a partnership between Voxiva and SafeLink Health Solutions®, a TracFone brand, Amerigroup members have access to free mobile phones and Voxiva's health messaging programs. Since Amerigroup began offering Txt4health in December of last year, more than 100,000 members have enrolled in the program.

"We're proud to offer Amerigroup members Voxiva's innovative Tx4health service, increasing ease of access to care for our diverse membership," said Dr. Mary McCluskey, senior vice president and chief medical officer, WellPoint Government Business Division. "Using Tx4health we can encourage wellness through education, whether its general health tips or reminders to schedule appointments, our primary goal is to improve health and wellness for our members."

Txt4health provides adults with timely and personalized health information sent by text message. The text messages encourage them to follow recommended guidelines for physical exams, preventive screenings, flu shots and vaccinations, as well as make them aware of services and benefits available to them from Amerigroup. The program is designed to improve key quality measures for health plans and increase member satisfaction.

Txt4health is currently offered to Medicaid plan members in 11 states where Amerigroup operates. Eligible plan members receive a free SafeLink phone with up to 250 minutes each month, free calls to Amerigroup's member services, unlimited text messages and the Txt4health health messages. Prior to the launch of the services, the content of the health messages was approved by all of the State Medicaid Agencies in those states.

"Voxiva has pioneered the delivery of large scale mobile health services that leverage digital technology to help people live their healthiest possible lives. Our partnership with TracFone and the rapid growth to 100,000 users demonstrates these services are in demand and we already know through multiple independent evaluations that these types of services can improve compliance with preventive health guidelines -- a major goal of the US government -- and these proven programs can reach many more people at no cost to them and at no added cost to their health plans," said Paul Meyer, Voxiva's Chairman & President.
