Torch Technologies, an employee-owned technology services and solutions company, headquartered in Huntsville, is proud to announce it has been selected as the 2013 Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year by the Small Business Administration (SBA) Region IV, following a nomination from the Aviation & Missile Life Cycle Management Command, Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP). According to AMCOM OSBP, Torch was nominated for its outstanding performance and support of AMCOM and Team Redstone. The SBA's comprehensive evaluation/selection criteria included: Overall management, Delivery performance, Technical capabilities, Labor relations, Cost performance, Special achievements, Resource utilization, Customer interface, Financial strength, and Exceptional results. Torch was selected from all small business prime contractors in an eight state region comprised of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Bill Roark, Torch Co-Founder and CEO stated, "We are very grateful to the SBA for all they do to help small businesses start, grow and succeed." Over the years Torch has benefited from SBA assistance in the form of business feedback and guidance during meetings with Government Small Business Advocates such as the AMCOM Office of Small Business Programs. Torch was founded 10 years ago and began operations in October of 2002. In 2012, revenue exceeded $125 million and Torch now holds relevant engineering prime contracts with ceilings worth more than $1.4 billion. Most of these prime contracts are for the purpose of providing professional services directly to the Government for various organizations including the US Army Aviation and Missile Command and Missile Defense Agency.
