ROCHESTER, NY—Second Avenue Learning presented a poster, "Gaming Bloom's: De/Reconstructing the Revised Taxonomy for Game-based Learning" at Games + Learning + Society's 9th annual conference in Madison, WI with Professor Jayne Lammers of the Warner School of Education at the University of Rochester. The poster and presentation were the result of research collaboration between Second Avenue CEO Victoria Van Voorhis, Director of Research and Learning Design, Anne Snyder, and Professor Jayne Lammers. Poster design was executed by Second Avenue Creative Director Susan Colodny.

Second Avenue is honored to announce that ‘Gaming Bloom's' was the recipient of the 2013 People's Choice Award, selected by GLS conference attendees out of more than 60 possible posters. Second Avenue revised Bloom's Taxonomy into a reconstructed framework that explains how our brains process information when we play games. When learners are able to experiment and engage in higher-level thinking from the start, this in turn encourages spontaneous innovation. This research informs Second Avenue's pedagogy and design process for serious games.
