IRVINE, CA, September 9, 2013 -- Iris Technology Corporation is pleased to announce Michael J. Barthlow as its newly appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer. Mike's strong customer orientation and operational experience will be critical as he leads the efforts to distinguish the company with new offerings, capabilities and enhancements. Areas of focus will include fostering strategic partnerships and introducing new business model architectures to accelerate growth.
"I committed my career to serving C4ISR needs of the tactical user. In all cases, power management becomes a challenge. This is exacerbated by the proliferation of devices and capabilities at the tactical edge," commented Mike. "Iris Technology's advancements in solar harvesting, battery charging and power management make it easier for operators to do more in a smaller package and with a lighter load. I am honored to be a part of these innovations and to be a part of the Iris team."
Prior to joining Iris, Mike held various positions of progressive responsibility with Gilat Satellite Networks, Harris RF Communications, Northrop Grumman and AT&T Solutions. As an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, Mike served both as Chief of Joint Theater Data Networks for the U.S. Central Command and as Communications and Information Systems Officer of an artillery battalion at Camp Pendleton, California.
Mike holds an MBA from California State University San Marcos, in addition to a master's degree in Information Systems from the University of Colorado Denver and a bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania in American Literature. He has received a Joint Service Commendation Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
Ed O'Rourke, CEO, adds: "I've known Mike for many years now and can say he brings enormous stature to all our corporate relations that will uniquely benefit our tactical programs. Mike will be operating from our new East Coast office in Herndon, VA. We have established this Iris location to best serve our DC, Quantico, Chantilly and Northern Virginia area clients."
