INDIANAPOLIS (July 18, 2012) - Eight companies from Indianapolis will be honored for being among 25 outstanding companies to earn a place in Indiana's fifth annual field of 'Companies to Watch.'
The local companies to be honored are Apex Benefits, a benefits consulting firm, Catheter Research Inc., a medical device manufacturing firm, Courseload, an information technology firm, LeadJen, a management consulting service, OurHealth, a healthcare firm, Raidious, an advertising and public relations service, Smarter Remarketer LLC, a computer systems design service, and TrendyMinds, an advertising and public relations service.
"Because of our steadfast commitment to creating the best business climate possible, it is no surprise that Indiana has become a hub for innovation and entrepreneurism," said Dan Hasler, Secretary of Commerce and chief executive officer of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. "We are thrilled to honor this year's class of 'Companies to Watch' as they exemplify the spirit of ingenuity. Indiana is filled with highly skilled, dynamic small businesses like these that are taking risks and working hard every day to create their own homegrown Hoosier success stories."
The accolade, presented by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, its Small Business Development Center network and the Edward Lowe Foundation, recognizes the state's privately held businesses that employ six to 150 full-time employees and have between $750,000 to $100 million in annual revenue or capital.
The 25 'Companies to Watch' from 13 Indiana counties were named after evaluating nearly 165 nominations for the awards and represent industries ranging from custom sign design to comprehensive travel solutions and wind turbine manufacturing to interactive marketing.
The chosen companies project to have combined revenues in excess of $282 million and create more than 171 new jobs this year. The revenue projections represent an increase of more than $66 million or 31 percent from 2011.
With major sponsorship from Barnes and Thornburg, LLP, the 'Companies to Watch' awards program is an initiative developed by the Cassopolis, Mich.-based Edward Lowe Foundation. The foundation licenses similar programs in other states. The program is also sponsored in part by Premier Capital Corporation, Katz Sapper & Miller, Miles Printing, KeyBank, Purdue University and Ivy Tech Community College.
The 25 'Companies to Watch' will be honored at an Aug. 23 ceremony at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis. Tickets for the ceremony and dinner are still available and may be purchased online at www.ctw2012.eventbrite.com or by calling 888.472.3244.

About IEDC
Created by Governor Mitch Daniels in 2005 to replace the former Department of Commerce, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation is governed by a 12-member board chaired by Governor Daniels. Dan Hasler serves as the chief executive officer of the IEDC.
The IEDC oversees programs enacted by the General Assembly including tax credits, workforce training grants and public infrastructure assistance. All tax credits are performance-based. Therefore, companies must first invest in Indiana through job creation or capital investment before incentives are paid. A company who does not meet its full projections only receives a percentage of the incentives proportional to its actual investment. For more information about IEDC, visit www.iedc.in.gov.
