GT Urological LLC (GTU), a privately held medical device company of Minneapolis, has sold its ActiCuf Compression Pouch product line to Kander Medical of Cincinnati, Ohio. Sale terms were not disclosed.
GTU is continuing development of its implantable artificial urinary sphincter product and expects to soon begin clinical trials on the device in Europe.
The ActiCuf is a discreet disposable product for men whose light to moderate incontinence has normally been treated with adult diapers. It was the first product developed by GTU, which was founded in 2004.
The ActiCuf has received a reimbursement code from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The product was marketed by GTU through a distributor network in the U.S. and in Europe, with emerging markets in South America showing promise.
Kander Medical manufactures and sells medical devices to men who desire to manage their loss of bladder control, or incontinence.
President Richard Timm noted that two million men in the U.S. experience loss of bladder control due to disease or injury. Timm said the ActiCuf product is an important addition to its product line.
