SEATTLE, March 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Frontier Global Sciences (www.frontiergs.com), a leading laboratory that specializes in the analysis of toxic metals, under contract with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), performed the analysis of lead in 400 lipsticks as part of the FDA's 2010 expanded survey of lead in cosmetics (FDA Study Link). Following the direction of the FDA, Frontier Global Sciences obtained 400 lipstick samples representing a variety of manufacturers and performed the digestion and analysis following a protocol consistent with the FDA's validated method for measuring lead in lipstick (FDA Final Results).
According to Patrick Garcia-Strickland, Frontier Global Sciences Technical Director, "Frontier Global Sciences continues to expand our range of metals analysis techniques which allow us to analyze the most complex samples with extremely high accuracy. Offering these new methods to test for heavy metals in environmental, pharmaceutical, dietary supplement and now consumer products is consistent with our goal to offer the most accurate and low level measurements available."
According to Bob Brunette, the Company's Executive Vice President, "For over 20 years Frontier Global Sciences has been a leader in the development of new and improved methods to analyze metals at trace levels and we are proud to have supported both the cosmetics industry and the FDA in this important study. The survey required trace detection limits for lead and a high degree of quality assurance to ensure accurate results. This is Frontier Global Sciences' specialty and we again are proud to have played an important part in one of the largest, most comprehensive surveys of lead concentrations in lipstick products. We look forward to continuing to support the cosmetics industry with accurate metals analysis services."
