CTSi was awarded a new delivery order contract with the Aircraft Prototype Facility (APF) to fabricate and deliver C-130 Battlefield Illumination Dispenser Kits.
Here is a little background on the effort:
The C-130 aircraft does not have an integrated system for dispensing battlefield illumination flares. To help fill this deficiency, Air Force developed a stand-alone flare dispenser system that fits between the ramp and rear cargo door. At the request of PMA-207, the Aircraft Prototype Systems Division (APSD) reverse-engineered the sole Air Force system and created a documentation package that will be used to fabricate multiple copies of the original unit, along with a flare storage box. The Aircraft Prototype Systems Division will produce a single system to validate the data package, expected completion mid-November 2013. APSD is seeking the support of our APF primes in the fabrication and delivery of the remaining systems.
