ST. LOUIS, Feb. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Akermin is pleased to announce the issuance of 3 new patents, each contributing to the expansion of the company's intellectual property position in industrial biocatalysis. The United States patent office recently issued Akermin the following patents: US 8895280 Polysilicate-Polysilicone Enzyme Immobilization Materials and US 8859151 Immobilized Enzymes in Biocathodes. The patent office also issued a Notice of Allowance for the company's application on Thiol-ene Coupling Chemistry for Immobilization of Biocatalysts 13/911,275.

These new patents validate the company's focus on creating valuable intellectual property in enzyme delivery technology and system designs through data-supported functional and composition of matter claims. "These new patents expand Akermin's tool box in utilizing biological catalysts for the removal of carbon dioxide from industrial processes" said Alex Zaks, President and CTO of Akermin.
