Originally acquired by Thornton Tomasetti, Inc. in September 2015, Weidlinger Associates, Inc. is a long-established structural engineering firm designing and rehabilitateing buildings, bridges, and infrastructure and providing special services in applied science, forensics, and physical security. In July 2019, the firm was acquired by J S Held as a means to expand the latter's equipment consulting capabilities - J S Held having been itself acquired only a few months earlier by private equity firm Kelso & Company. In business since 1949, Weidlinger has continue to be active in the SBIR space since soon after the program was first established. With an extensie range of in-house developed software capabilities, te company also offers services in the areas of vulnerability assessment; risk analysis; forensic, earthquake, wind, and blast engineering; soil/structure interaction; and sustainability. The firm's WAimat Suite, is a trio of software modules to predict ductile fracture, creep, and fire-induced deformation and failure in large-scale metal structures. Other software products address various applications to include medical diagnostics and therapeutics, optics, counterterrorism, structural failure assessment, oil exploration. Originaly dba Weidlinger Associates Consulting Engineers the name was changed to Weidlinger Associates, Inc. in 1982 - coincident with their first SBIR involveent. Headquartered in New York, NY , Weidlinger also has offices in West Hartford, Connecticut; and Southern California.|
