Public Profile

Visotek Inc, a spin-off of Fraunhofer USA’s Center for Laser Technology (CLT), is a photonics company providing high volume laser processing services. Visotek also designs, develops and manufactures fiber coupled diode laser modules, complete turnkey systems and specialized optics for industrial, military, medical, research and commercial applications. The firm is working on innovations for industrial manufacturing, homeland defense and surgical techniques for patients in the operating suite and the battlefield, with concentrations in laser cladding, laser cleaning, laser welding, laser ablation and laser soldering. The firm has developed a proprietary laser processing tool, FLO (Flexibible Laser Optic), that is used for laser welding in shipyards. The FLO tool was able to weld a structural steel plate with a variable weld seam width overcoming gap and tight tolerance fit-up issues. The same laser processing tool was also successfully applied in the automotive industry for 3-D robotic remote welding, achieving 250 welded spots per minute
