Veraphotonics' mission is to develop advanced, low-cost, miniaturized sensor and controller technology for smart structures, smart lighting, and remote health monitoring applications. Applications for this technology include cracks and corrosion monitoring, leak detection, long-term load history, vibration characterization and dynamic strain monitoring. Veraphotonics is developing systems with multiplexing sensor interrogation capability with long-term, on-line damage monitoring of aircraft structures. Using a robust optical frequency demodulation technique to interrogate a network of fiber-optic Bragg Grating Array (BGA) sensors, the instrument is capable of simultaneously measuring strain, temperature, and acoustic fields with high resolution and high sensitivity, and is scalable for integrated, multipoint sensing.
