Established in 19931, Valpey-Fisher went public on AMEX in 1982 and was acquired in January 2012 by CTS Corp. Valpey Fisher (AMEX:VPF) is a technology company specializing in low noise timing solutions. From discrete high precision crystal oscillators to highly integrated, low noise timing modules, Valpey Fisher offers its customers a broad array of frequency control products to meet their precision timing needs. Valpey Fisher is organized into two core business groups: Valpey Fisher Frequency Control Division-- focuses on providing timing and synchronization components to the telecommunications industry for wireline (land-based), wireless and broadband networks. Valepy Fisher Ultrasound Division-- designs and manufacturers ultrasonic tranducers, which are used in nondestructive testing, flaw detection, thickness gauging, acoustic microscopy, particle sizing and medical diagnostics. Valpey Fisher has been a pioneer in the design and manufacturing of precision crystal oscillators. Today, the firm is developing precision timing devices with the highest frequency and lowest phase noise. The firm was the first to offer a series of TCXOs, VCXOs, and XOs that operate at 1.0GHz. In addition, we offer complete timing modules, commercial oscillators, Hi-Rel/COTS oscillators, and VCOs to provide the precision timing required in optical networking, wireless infrastructure, test and measurement, and avionics. Valpey Fisher Ultrasound designs and manufactures a full line of ultrasonic transducers for use in aeronautics, petrochemical, medical, and semiconductor applications. Through its ValpeyFisher subsidiary (also SBIR involved in its own right), MATEC makes quartz crystals and crystal-based products such as oscillators, piezoelectric and high-precision optical components, and ultrasonic transducers. These components are used for timing and frequency control in computers and peripherals, microprocessor-based instrumentation, and communications equipment. Its transducers are used in nondestructive medical and testing applications. MATEC divested its other operations during the late 1990s, including its AcoustoSizer product line and subsidiaries Bergen Cable Technologies, Matec Instruments, and Matec Applied Sciences.
