Formed by a group of Caltech and UCLA engineers, United Micromachines is focused to development and commercial applications for MEMS-based technologies. The firm offers over 40 years combined experience in MEMS research, product development, manufacturing and packaging. In 1999 the founders began to investigate other applications for MEMS devices and soon formed Umachines to pursue the most exciting opportunities, those within the optical networking field. The firm maintains facilities in optical and electronics labs, a clean room and prototype construction, packaging, assembly and test departments. Umachines develops and manufactures optical networking products based on digital 2-D MEMS technology.
