Fairly active in the SBIR arena, in March 2013 Ultra-Scan Corporation was acquired by a well-known previously SBIR-involved firm - Qualcomm. In the busines of identity management and a pioneer in the development of high accuracy, fingerprint identification technology, Ultra-Scan had offered hardware products that include UltraTouch ultrasonic fingerprint readers and desktop enrollment stations; and AFIS ID Express software for ultrasonic plain impression fingerprint identification applications. The company also offered Performance Validation Service, an independent verification and validation service for products, which quantitatively measures system performance with respect to parameters, such as false rejection and false acceptance rates; and Multi-Model Biometric fusion, a software integration package that allows the use of various biometric technologies in a single system and fuses fingerprint with voice recognition, iris recognition, facial imaging, and signature analysis. Consulting services offered included system development and peripheral integration; and installation services to healthcare, government and transportation security, and financial markets worldwide. The firm had strategic partnerships with L-1 Identity Solutions, Inc.; and Science Applications International Corporation.
