Triangle Environmental Health Initiative LLC - Tri-Ehi - is organized internationally around improving access to safely managed sanitation to the billions impacted by poorly managed fecal waste. Principals of the firm are involved in the development, field installation and testing of transformative sanitation technologies across the value chain, complemented with an understanding of the systems in which it functions. Tri-EHI staff involved in development of a range of improved pit emptying equipment, two reinvented toilet designs, two mobile dewatering and treatment units, and a community scale treatment system among other field-based innovations for immediate implementation. Involvement with many teams working in this sector, and across many countries enables Tri-EHI to function as acatalyst to accelerate technology development through gap identification and facilitated collaboration of teams with complementary technologies. As new technologies make technical progress, other barriers to introducing these technologies into intended markets become increasingly evident. The exposure of the firm's personnel to multiple technologies and to partners in multiple countries provides valuable experience: understanding technical difficulties involved with installing and testing. With Tri-EHI positioned to provide a "sanitation market entry package" - providing services both to producer of given tech and end user - many new sanitation technologies can be introduced at a small scale and perhaps over a large geographical area it quickly becomes impossible to support all of these systems over time with the proper servicing by trained operators. Potentially, the objective is to have EHI become a global market facilitator for sanitation products to accelerate and impact emerging markets
