Operating since July 2011 as part of the Canadian firm SciSense following the merger of the two firms, Transonic manufactures precision biomedical measurement instruments, including standard transit-time ultrasound flowmeters and ultrasound dilution monitors, along with Laser Doppler perfusion monitors, pressure and pressure volume and telemetry systems to clinicians and researchers all around the world. The company was originally formed to develop specialized ultrasound technology, the transit-time ultrasound flowmeter, originally developed at Cornell University to measure blood volume flow in large animal studies, to general use. The fiorm's measurement tools include intraoperative flowprobes for surgeons; monitors and sensors designed for hemodialysis and critical care; and specialty sensors adapted for original equipment manufacturers. In addition to its ultrasound flow measurements, Transonic also offers laser Doppler monitors for perfusion monitoring; Scisense pressure and pressure volume systems; and implantable biotelemetry systems for researchers.
