TrackerSled develops pre-engineered modular platforms designed to simplify dual-use farming as a means to revitalize rural economies and improve local resiliency while catalyzing carbon drawdown. originally formed in response to an InnoCentive Challenge posed by an international energy company that was struggling to gain public acceptance of its utility-scale solar farms in the Midwest. Instead of considering solar farming as the exclusive purview of solar developers and multinational utilities, TRackerSled management developed a turnkey solution for farmers enabling them instead to own the energy-producing assets. In 2020, the DOE named TrackerSled as a finalist in the third round of the Solar Prize. As part of the DOE SBIR award TrackerSled is meeting the moment, invoking the energy transition to revitalize rural economies.
