Public Profile

Then known as Titan Systems - now Titan Corporation - San Diego, CA Titan received a single SBIR Phase I award soon after their start-up. Given the continuing and extensive acquisition activity by Titan from among SBIR companies, this is an ironic connection. Primarily through a very active program of acquisitions, by the time of its own acquisiiton by L3 Comunications in 2005, Titan had grown to become a leading provider of comprehensive information and communications products, solutions, and services for National Security. Serving the Department of Defense, intelligence agencies, and other government customers, Titan's business focus included: Homeland Security and War on Terrorism; C4ISR - Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance - developing and supporting the systems of today and tomorrow for the United States and Allied Militaries and defense related agencies in order for them to carry out their assigned missions; Transformational Programs - which complement C4ISR systems, Titan provided large end-to-end enterprise IT solutions enabling seamless connectivity from the strategic to the tactical level of a customer’s critical enterprise. In September 2003 Lockheed-Martin announced intent to acquire Titan Systems but in late June 2004 the bid was withdrawn. In 2005 however, Titan was acquired by L3 Communications. L-3 had been formed in 1997 to acquire certain business units from Lockheed Martin that had previously been part of Loral Corporation. These units had belonged to Lockheed Corporation and Martin Marietta, which had merged three years before in 1993
