Tactile Dynamics, Inc., (TDI), has developed a 30 dot by 30 dot integrated Braille Display Module (BDM), that can be joined together to form a 2-dimensional tactile display of various sizes. Commercial products provide portable, durable, multi-line refreshable braille displays (RBD's) and refreshable graphic displays (RGD's) at a fraction of the costs of today's refreshable displays. The development and commercialization of these revolutionary products offer more than 1.3 million visually-impaired Americans many benefits, including: increased braille literacy, enhanced comprehension of tabulated information, access to graphics, access to charts and graphs often found in high-tech education and industry, portable braille book readers, and most importantly, parity with sighted piers in education, employment, and community life
