Sunvolt develops new nanoscale materials systems that power electronic devices. We also design the processes and make the production equipment needed to manufacture these devices. Target markets are solar power, lighting, and defense. Compound semiconductors: the firm make a new type of Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxial growth system which produces highly uniform GaAs and GaN films -- with several times better yield and utilization than existing growth systems. The second version of this system has been purchased by a research institution for a Defense Department project. Photovoltaics: Sunvolt has developed a nanoscale material system that is the basis for a new class of low cost photovoltaics. This system eliminates the need for a major part of solar power installation costs. The functions of this device are being tested and patents are pending.
