Falls by the elderly having been the primary focus of Sumaq Life, LLC - millions of older adults are treated in emergency departments for fall injuries and falls constitute the leading cause of traumatic brain injury and accidental death in adults over 65 years. Impaired balance is a key contributor to falls. Iin the past year however -- 2020-21 -- focus of the proncipals has shifted to matters related to the COVID-19 pandemic - clearly among the most significant global crises in our lifetime, creating elevated levels of fear and uncertainty. To that end, principals of the firm are currently working with other researchers to create COVID-19 models to evaluate the effectiveness of social distancing policies and to create scientific animations to deliver educational content, while addressing cultural, language, and literacy diversity.
