In February of 2000, SpecTran Corporation was acquired by Lucent Technologies. SpecTran Corporation develops, manufactures and markets a wide range of fiber optic products including data communication grade multimode fiber, telecommunication grade single-mode fiber, step and graded multimode fiber and cable, specialty single-mode fiber and cable, and components and assembly products such as crimp and cleave connectors, pigtails, fiber optic arrays, specialty and hybrid interconnects and tool kits. These products are used for data communications, telecommunications, industrial, transportation, communication, medical and geophysical applications. The Company also develops special performance fibers, coatings, cables, cable assemblies and other value-added products for use in a variety of specialty markets. SpecTran operates through two business segments, Optical Fiber and Specialty Products.
