Sound Life Sciences is a computational health company building clinically validated software for mobile phones and smart speakers: hardware that most people already have in their possession and that - as such - appropriately structured - can provides almost entirely unobtrusive monitoring using software that detects changes in breathing for a variety of scenarios, from managing chronic diseases to averting life-threatening emergencies. Put to use, the wearer's Phone or smart speaker emits inaudible ultrasonic pulses that reflect off a personâs chest - reflections that are detected by the deviceâs microphone. Signal processing algorithms analyze the frequency shifts in the reflected signal to identify clinically meaningful respiratory changes.
