The primary effort, current focus and lead product of SOAIR is Collie, an acoustics based system being employed unobtrusively to monitor acoustically those at risk of falling in their homes. The overall objective of SOAIR - a research and development company -- is to create applications for acoustic technology, building on the founder's 30-year career in acoustic science as a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Mississippi (UM). Sonar and other acoustic technologies have so far been vastly underutilized despite having a tremendously broad range of applications in countless disparate industries. The promise of SOAIR is to make those applications a reality, one project at a time.
