SimTunes is a spinoff company of Health Care Simulation of South Carolina (HCSSC) as part of the MUSC SmartState Center for Clinical Effectiveness and Patient Safety. SimTunes , LLC, is an educational technology company co-founded by John Schaefer, MD, of the Center for Clinical Effectiveness and Patient Safety and businessman Heywad Coleman. The firm has sublicensed its intellectual property to Norway-based Laerdal Medical. Through the agreement,SimTunes has granting Laerdal, a global manufacturer and marketer of medical Simulation equipment and medical training products, the rights to the logic and software that will enable global distribution of SimTunes-created medical simulation educational material. In addition, the contract provides for the subleasing of educational material from SimTunes through a partnership between Lrdal and HealthStream, Inc., a leading provider of learning and research soluti ons for the healthcare industry.
