Sierra provides innovative products with high diagnostic value in GI physiological measurement through implementation of advances in high-resolution pressure sensing. In September 2009, had acquired from Alpine Biomed its clinical gastroenterology business. A few month's later - in March 2010 - Given Imaging Ltd. (NASDAQ:GIVN) acquired the privately held Sierra Scientific Instruments Inc. as a wholly owned subsidiary. To complete the story - it should be noted that in December 2013 Given Imaging was itself acquired by Covidien which firm only months later - in June 2014 - was acquired by Medronics
