Separation Design Group ( SDGroup) is developing a novel separations process. It is called Meso-frequency Continuous Adsorption Technology, or MCAT. Separations technology is the separation of components from a complex gas or liquid flow. Its market applications are far ranging and include; drying air for compressed air systems; enriching oxygen in combustion air for furnaces and cars; desalinating and purifying water; and separating greenhouse gases from industrial and agricultural effluents. Separations processes are used in industries from coal mines to outer space, agriculture to aluminum smelting, medicine to microchip manufacturing. MCAT is a highly efficient and completely scalable separations technology which separates and enriches selected gas or liquid streams without the need for compressors, motors, or other peripheral components with moving parts. As such, MCAT will find applications in both existing and emerging markets where size, energy efficiency, and reliability are important factors.
